SAN DIEGO - Volunteers from the Aztec Athletic Foundation gathered at Cox Arena onThursday, May 24th for The Drive 2001 Victory Celebration, marking the endof the AAF's seven-week campaign to raise $1 million for student-athletescholarships at San Diego State University.

At the end of the night, AAF President Ben Bagnas announced the currenttotal of $858,037 in pledges. Volunteers urged Bagnas to extend the AAF'sself-imposed deadline to reach $1 million. "Many, if not all, of our volunteers felt we needed to extend the deadlineto allow proper time to contact our entire base, including renewals andleads," said AAF President Ben Bagnas. "The men's basketball season-ticketrenewals have only recently been mailed, and we have a strong contingentworking in Orange County leading up to Aztec Day in Orange County on June4th, so it only makes sense to extend the time period to allow us toproperly touch base with our entire SDSU constituency."
