Bay, Craft, Fisher and Tomey Headline Guest Speakers At 'The Drive 2003' Kickoff Rally April 10th Executive Director of Athletics and Special Assistant to the President RickBay, Head Football Coach Tom Craft, Head Men's Basketball Coach Steve Fisher and Head Women's Basketball Coach Jim Tomey are all scheduled to appear and speak at the Aztec Athletic Foundation's "The Drive 2003" Kickoff Rally on Thursday, April 10th at the Aztec Athletic Center. The rally marks the official beginning of the AAF's annual campaignto raise funds for student-athlete scholarships at San Diego StateUniversity. Teams of volunteers from around San Diego County have completed preparations for this year's drive, and have set a goal of $1.25million for the 10-week campaign, building on last year's record andall-time high of $1.1 million. "We are really excited to have these four gentlemen take time out of theirbusy schedules to come out and support us and send us off into the campaign on a high note," said "The Drive 2003" Chairman Kevin Faulconer. "It shows how important this campaign is to Aztec Athletics, and how vital the dollars raised are to the success of the athletic program. It's a real boost to our volunteer base as we start the campaign, to see the commitment of our most visible administrators and coaches to the success of the campaign, it really makes us feel part of the team." Team and individual competition will take place throughout the campaign forthe right to claim victory as the top fundraising team and "AAF Aztec of theYear". In the team race, Bert Morrison takes over as Captain of thetwo-time defending team champions from Scripps Ranch/Poway as they look for their third consecutive title. In the individual race, Ben Bagnas of Scripps Ranch/Poway returns as the two-time defending champion, but will receive strong competition from Jim and Deborah Marshall of the Beach Bums and Sharon Burgreen out of East County.
