WALNUT, CALIF.– San Diego State Track & Field made their debut at the annual Mt. SAC Relays with the team competing in seven different events. The pole vault team competed in the “Elite” division while the Aztec’s sprinters raced in the 4x100m relay, 200, 400 and 100-meter dashes as well as both hurdle events.
Shari Hurdman has been SDSU’s top 400-meter runner this season and that trend continued at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Hardman posted a 52.94 final time leading to a third-place finish, new personal best and improved upon her seventh all-time fastest time in program history. In the 200-meter dash Aji Mbye claimed second place running 23.60. Kelia Bentham and Olivia Hicks also finished in the top 10. Lidia Major represented the Aztecs in the 400-meter hurdles running a new personal best of 59.57, good for ninth place. San Diego State’s 4x100-meter relay team of Mikaela Warr, Kelia Bentham, Olivia Hicks and Aji Mbye finished in first behind a final time of 44.57.
The Aztec’s highly ranked pole vault team competed in the “Elite” division, facing off against athletes from programs such as Washington, UCLA and Duke. Isabella Nilsen was the team’s top performer finishing in third place while vaulting 4.20m.

San Diego will return to the Mt. SAC Relays tomorrow, April 18 as they prepare to compete in multiple events in the “Elite” division. Xiamara Young will see action in both the long and triple jumps. Jada Pierre will represent the team in the 100-meter dash while also joining Charlize James and Ana Luisa Couto Soares Ferraz in the 100-meter hurdles. Anna Mager will finish up the weekend racing in the “Elite” 400-meter hurdles as well.
