BOISE, IDAHO – San Diego State Cross Country has officially completed racing in the program’s inaugural Pac-12 Conference Championship meet. Seven Aztecs made the trip to the Warm Springs Golf Course in Boise, Idaho to represent San Diego State. The team consisted of three freshmen, two sophomores and a pair of upperclassmen.

As has been the case all year the true freshmen duo of Ariella Llorens and Skylar Watts led the way for SDSU. Llorens has been a revelation for the team, emerging as one of the top freshmen in the entire conference. In her first collegiate postseason race Llorens posted a final time of 20:37.9 and a 19th place finish. Lloren’s 19th place individual finish is the best finish for an individual Aztec at a conference championship race since Lital Azulay’s 5th place finish at the 2005 Mountain West Championship. She was the fourth fastest freshman to race today.

Skylar Watts was the second fastest runner for SDSU with a 21:36.8 six-kilometer performance. She pushed to the finish line running 7:30.9 over the final two kilometers of the race. Isabella Frisone rounded out the Aztec’s top three finishers with a time of 21:44.9.

Elliana Lomeli and Karina Janik took 66th and 68th place respectively. Lomeli posted a time of 22:12.0 while Janik finished with a time of 22:17.1. This was Janik’s third ever college cross country race and would be a new personal best performance in the six-kilometer.

Emilia Greenway and Delaney Johns were the final Aztecs to compete. Greenway crossed the finish line with a time of 23:06.9. Johns had not raced since the Saint Mary’s Invitational on September 18 due to injury. She returned to action with a time of 24:42.9.

The team has now had a taste of postseason competition and will turn their attention to the NCAA West Regional meet on November 13 at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, California.
