SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (8-3-2, 2-1-1 Pac-12) is hitting the road for a match at Washington State (5-5-3, 2-2-0 Pac-12) at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The match will be broadcast on the Pac-12 YouTube page.

San Diego State did not play last week. The week before, on Thursday, SDSU tied 2-2 at Oregon State. The Aztecs trailed 2-0 in the 83rd minute before Kana Smith scored her first career goal with an assist from Alexis Leath. Five minutes later, Leath passed to Senn, who had her shot blocked. However, the Oakland native fired a putback shot past the keeper for the equalizer. On that Sunday, the Aztecs picked up a 3-1 win over Colorado State on a hat trick by Victoria Miller. Her feat was the 13th in school history and the first one since Veronica Avalos and Rachelle Elve each scored three goals in a match during the 2020-21 season.

Washington State opened its conference season with consecutive home wins against Oregon State and Fresno State before falling on the road at Utah State and Gonzaga.  The Cougars, who have a .500 winning percentage in both conference play and overall, have two common opponents with San Diego State. The Aztecs won 2-1 at Utah Valley on September 12 and tied at Oregon State 2-2 on October 8. The Cougars fell 1-0 to Utah Valley in Hawai’i on September 3 and won 3-1 against Oregon State on October 1.

San Diego State and Washington State have each won three of the teams’ six all-time meetings. SDSU won 3-1 in San Diego in 1991, 2-0 in Pullman in 1992 and 1-0 in San Diego in 1993. WSU won 2-1 in Pullman in 1996, 3-0 in San Diego in 2021 and 2-1 in Pullman in 2023. In the last meeting, Denise Castro scored for the Aztecs at the No. 17 Cougars.

SDSU returns home on Sunday for a match against Fresno State at noon. All Aztecs home matches on the SDSU Sports Deck are free to attend, and all Pac-12 matches are streamed for free on the Pac-12 YouTube channel.
