SAN DIEGO – San Diego State goalkeeper Nic Diana was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week and the Newcomer of the Week after shutting out California Baptist Saturday night.
Diana (Grayslake, Ill.) faced 15 shots and six corners and made three saves to give the Lancers their first shutout since Nov. 3, 2024, a span of 32 matches.
It was Diana’s second straight shutout after he blanked Gonzaga the previous week in a SDSU 1-0 win.
Diana is second in the Pac-12 with 47 saves.
Diana is the first Aztec to win Pac-12 Newcomer or Defensive Player of the Week this season. Nik Orth and Jaxson Hutcheon have previously won Offensive Player of the Week.
The Aztecs are the only undefeated team (1-0-3) remaining in Pac-12 play. They host Utah Valley in a non-conference meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
