Please tell us about yourself.
Hello everyone! My name is Braden Styerwalt, and I am from San Jose, California. I am currently a junior pursuing a degree in Business Management. After I graduate, I hope to pursue a career in the sports business industry. I have worked with Aztec Club as an intern during my freshman and sophomore years, and I am so excited to serve as our Lead Intern for the upcoming school year!
Tell us about your role as lead intern for the Aztec Club.
As a Lead Intern for Aztec Club, I help lead our Men’s Basketball hospitality events. I oversee the setup and breakdown of our hospitality events and help facilitate operations during each event. I also get to be involved in various other Aztec Club activities, such as helping fundraising events like our softball fundraiser.
How is your internship preparing you for the workforce after graduating?
This internship is giving me valuable experience in sports hospitality and event operations. I am able to get a behind the scenes look at how various special events are executed. I get to work in and around our sports facilities while learning about all the different operations that go into each game day. All of this experience will put me in a great position to succeed in a career related to sports after I graduate.
What has been your favorite event to work at?
One of my favorite events happened just recently when we held our 2026 Football Kickoff event on the flight deck of the USS Midway. It was an incredible experience to see everyone so excited about SDSU Athletics in such an incredible location.
What skills have you gained from interning for the Aztec Club?
I have developed strong attention to detail skills by learning about all the small details that go into putting together a successful event. I have also strengthened my organization and time management skills by ensuring that all of our basketball hospitality spaces are fully set up by the time our gates open.
What would you like to say to our Aztec Club members?
Get excited about all of the events we have coming up this year! I can't wait to see and meet all of you as we cheer on our Aztecs! Go Aztecs!
