SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team will play in New Mexico State’s Golf Iconic Classic Monday-Wednesday.
The 19-field features Cal Poly, CSUN, Drake, Fresno State, Houston Christian, Idaho, Idaho State, Incarnate Word, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, SDSU, Southern Utah, Tarleton State, UC Riverside, UT Arlington, UTEP and UTSA.
The Aztecs’ starting lineup will be Amelia Garibaldi, Fia Lindblom, Ema Narita, Emma Delwes and Kaylee Chung. SDSU is coming off a third-place finish at Colorado State’s Ben Connell Ram Classic where they shot a three-under-par 861, the third lowest 54-hole score in program history.
Garibaldi (Lodi, Calif.) is off to a great start to her Aztec career, earning two top-five finishes in her first two tournaments. Across six rounds, she is eight-under-par.
Lindblom (Gothenburg, Sweden) had a 73.9 adjusted average and went 332-238-21 at Texas State last year and finished in the top-10 twice. In SDSU’s last tournament, she tied for 19th with a one-over-par 217.
Narita (Tokyo, Japan) made the All-Mountain West First Team last season and posted a 72.79 stroke average, the fourth lowest 18-hole average in program history. She has started in all 36 tournaments since arriving on The Mesa.
Delwes (Verden, Germany) shot a career-low two-over-par 218 in SDSU’s last tournament, which included a career-best four-under-par 68 in the second round.
Chung (Vancouver, BC) will be playing in her second collegiate tournament. She shot a three-over-par 219 two weeks ago in Colorado.
The tournament will be played at New Mexico State’s on campus course. It is a par 72 and plays 6,420 yards.
Las Cruces, N.M. sits at 3,900 feet in elevation and the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching the high 70s.
