The San Diego State women’s golf team took fourth place at the Tulane Classic outside of New Orleans on Tuesday. The Aztecs were led by Amelia Garibaldi who finished in second place with a three-under-par 213.

AVONDALE, La. – The San Diego State women’s golf team took fourth place at the Tulane Classic outside of New Orleans on Tuesday. The Aztecs were led by Amelia Garibaldi who finished in second place with a three-under-par 213.

SDSU finished the tournament with their best round Wednesday, shooting a four-over-par 292, beating their score in the first two rounds by seven strokes.

Garibaldi, who is in her first season with the Aztecs after three seasons at Fresno State, shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round. She had four birdies on the day, including three on holes 5-7. She finished one stroke off the lead. Garibaldi was especially efficient on par fours, where she finished three-under-par and averaged 3.90 strokes per hole, the best in the field.

Emilia Nordström, who was also making her SDSU debut, finished second among Aztecs with a six-over-par 222, good for a tie for 14th place. She was consistent throughout the tournament, shooting a 73-75-74. Her 2.83 average on par threes, tied for the fourth best in the tournament.

Ema Narita, SDSU’s top returner, rebounded from an opening round 78 to shoot back-to-back three-over-par 75s and finished tied for 28th.

Fia Lindblom and Emilia Omander (playing as an individual) both finished the tournament strong with their best rounds on Wednesday. Omander’s day was highlighted by an eagle on the par four 331-yard 13th hole and her even par 72 tied a career-low score. Lindblom had a one-over-par 73. They both tied for 42nd with a 233 (+17).

Kylie Warner finished outside the scoring Wednesday with an 81 and finished two strokes behind Lindblom and Omander.

STAT OF THE DAY
The Aztecs finished the tournament with the lowest average score on par threes (3.07, +4).

The Aztecs will play in the Ben Connell Ram Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. Sept. 21-22.
