SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis has released its fall schedule, which is set to get underway on Sep. 11, Head Coach Gene Carswell announced on Friday. The fall slate will consist of eight multi-day tournaments, including one to be played at the Aztec Tennis Center.
The Aztecs will make their first appearance of the season at the Kinlen & Vivian Gee Wildcat Invite, hosted by the University of Arizona from Sep. 11-13 in Tucson, Ariz.
Following the first road trip, the team will stay local for its second tournament, heading to the Barnes Tennis Center for the San Diego Challenger beginning Sep. 21.
Next up, select Aztecs will compete in the UCSB Fall Invite at UC Santa Barbara from Oct. 9-11.
Just a few days later, the team will kick off competition at the annual ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Oct. 15 in Malibu, Calif. The tournament will be the Aztecs’ first qualifying pathway to the NCAA Individual Championships.
The inaugural Pac-12 Fall Qualifier, hosted by Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash. from Oct. 23-25, will offer the Aztecs their second qualifying pathway.
Next on the schedule is the Dennis Rizza Hidden Duals, which will be played between Oct.30-Nov. 1 in Palos Verdes, Calif.
The Aztecs will finish the fall schedule in San Diego, first competing at the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 6 at the Hogan Tennis Center before hosting their lone home tournament of the year, San Diego Futures, which will go from Nov. 30-Dec. 6 at the Aztec Tennis Center.
Coach Carswell welcomes four returners, Brock Anderson, William Kleege, Aleksi Lofman and Finn Willman, while bringing in Tennessee transfers Jan Kobierski and Piotr Siekanowicz, Baylor transfer Blake Anderson, as well as freshmen Maxime Baur and Dinko Dinev.
