SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is sending two student-athletes to the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships this week in the team’s second tournament of the fall season. Jayna Clemens and Vesa Gjinaj will represent the Scarlet and Black at the University of San Diego’s Hogan Tennis Center, beginning Thursday.
The Aztecs will pair up as a doubles team before they each compete in singles play. Competition is set to get underway at 8 a.m. PT. Draws and match times to be announced.
This will be the first appearance of the season for the two seniors. Clemens comes off an impressive 22-7 singles record during her junior year, playing primarily in the third and fourth spots. Her 15 dual victories were the most of any Aztec last season. Gjinaj was a key factor in the success of the 2026 campaign as well, amassing an 18-7 record and 12-4 in the spring.
Clemens also earned All-Conference Doubles honors after capturing 11 wins on the second court alongside San Diego State alum Ninon Martinache. This will be the first time Clemens and Gjinaj play as a duo.
