SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team will play in Colorado State’s Ben Connell Ram Classic Monday and Tuesday at Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
The 13-field features Colorado State (host), UNLV, Wyoming, UC Davis, Nevada, Hawai’i, Southern Mississippi, Cal Poly, Washington, Washington State, Nebraska and Northern Colorado.
The Aztecs’ starting lineup will be Amelia Garibaldi, Ema Narita, Emilia Nordström, Fia Lindblom and Kaylee Chung. Additionally, Emma Delwes will be competing as an individual.
Garibaldi (Fresno State), Lindblom (Texas State) and Nordström (Lee) came to SDSU in the offseason as transfers, while Chung, a freshman, will be making her collegiate debut.
Garibaldi (Lodi, Calif.), a three-year starter at Fresno State, finished second at SDSU’s season opening tournament, the Tulane Classic two weeks ago. She shot a three-under-par 213 while having the best average score on par fours (3.90) in the field.
Narita (Tokyo, Japan) made the All-Mountain West First Team last season and posted a 72.79 stroke average, the fourth lowest 18-hole average in program history.
Nordström (Falsterbo, Sweden) was named to the All-Gulf South Conference (DII) First Team last season while at Lee University. She finished T-14th at the Tulane Classic with a six-over-par 222.
Lindblom (Gothenburg, Sweden) had a 73.9 adjusted average and went 332-238-21 at Texas State last year and finished in the top-10 twice.
Chung (Vancouver, BC) won two tournaments and has seven top-10 finishes in high school while qualifying for two pro tournaments.
Delwes (Verden, Germany) is in her third season with the Aztecs. Last season, she played in eight tournaments while making five starts.
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday beginning with a 7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday, also beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT.
Ptarmigan Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus-designed course and plays 6,589 yards.
Fort Collins sits at 5,000 feet in elevation and the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching the mid 70s.
