SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is sending three student-athletes to the annual ITA All-American Championships this weekend as the team officially kicks off its fall schedule. Vessa Turley, Tea Lukic and Azu Ichioka will begin competition in Cary, N.C. on Saturday morning.

8 a.m. – Tea Lukic (SDSU) vs. Diana Ilie (Liberty)

Doubles
1 p.m. – Vessa Turley/Tea Lukic (SDSU) vs. Nicole Weng/Erin Pearce (Vanderbilt)

The eight-day tournament offers the three Aztecs their first qualifying pathway into this year’s NCAA Individual Championships. Of the 256 competing singles players, 10 will punch their ticket to the NCAA Singles Championship, while five out of 32 doubles teams will qualify.
Lukic will make her Aztec debut at 8 a.m. in a singles matchup against Liberty University’s Diana Ilie. Lukic comes to The Mesa as a graduate student from Gifhorn, Germany. She has an ITF juniors career-high ranking of 121 and has won eight titles.
At 10:30 a.m., Ichioka will make her collegiate debut against Anna Perelman out of the University of Miami. The freshman Aioi, Japan native has an ITF juniors career-high ranking of 232 and has won four singles and two doubles titles.
Following the conclusion of the first round of singles competition, Turley and Lukic will pair up to take on Vanderbilt’s Nicole Weng and Eric Pearce at 1 p.m.
Turley, who played alongside Jo-Yee Chan during her freshman campaign in 2025-26, was dominant in doubles competition. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native recorded 31 wins to break the school record in single season individual doubles victories. She also earned all-conference doubles honors and was a doubles champion at the ITA Conference Masters and Mountain West Fall Qualifier.
