SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State has announced its gameday promotions for Saturday’s game against the Dukes from James Madison with Snapdragon serving as the game sponsor. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on CW Sports.
Saturday’s game will be the first time the two programs have ever met on the gridiron. In keeping with the Aztec’s season long recognition of the United States Armed Forces, Saturday will serve as a night of recognition for the United States Army. Alongside the armed forces, it will be Extra Yard for Teachers Day! Local teachers and school administrators will be able to secure discounted tickets for the game for as little as $20.
The River Block Party, presented by Snapdragon, will open at 2:00 p.m. The block party will be highlighted by lei-making workshops that will run at 3:30,4:30 and 5:30. Live music will keep the party going with the band set to begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be joined by a Polynesian dance group at 4:50 p.m. Fans can also enjoy a photo booth, special sandcastle display and various food and beverage options. Other activations at the block party include a Kids Zone that will feature inflatables and a special meet-and-greet with Moana and Maui!
The Warrior Walk will begin at 4:45 p.m., offering fans the perfect opportunity to cheer on the team as they exit the buses and walk into Snapdragon Stadium where they will gear up to take on the visiting Dukes! Fans can mingle with the San Diego State spirit squads, including cheerleaders, dance team and band, before watching the Aztecs get ready to do battle inside the stadium. Saturday will serve as the SDSU Summer Sendoff and the first 10,000 fans will receive FREE SDSU straw beach hats.
San Diego State Football will be debuting a brand new, alternative uniform this Saturday dubbed “The Age of the Jaguar”. “The Age of the Jaguar” extends the Glyphs iconography introduced last year, bringing that visual language from brand storytelling into the on-field uniform system. The Ocelotl glyph is the centerpiece of the helmet, while the custom sublimated artwork on the jersey sleeves and pant side panels carries the same sense of cultural texture throughout the full look. To go along with the Aztec’s new all-red uniforms, the program asks all fans to wear red and help paint Snapdragon Stadium red!
Once in the stadium, fans can enjoy the new Aztec Value Menu at any of the Ultra Classics concessions stands. Fans can treat themselves to classic game day bites like hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and more for just six dollars!
SDSU Football is also excited to announce this week’s Honor Warrior, Zachary Thomas. Thomas was with the Aztecs from 2016-21 before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As an Aztec, he started 41 games on the offensive line, earning two all-Mountain West selections. A first-team pick in 2021, he was graded as the 16th-best offensive lineman in FBS (87.2, min. 600 snaps) and No. 18 run blocker (87.2, min. 600 snaps). Over the course of his final two collegiate seasons, he committed just three penalties on 1,144 total snaps. Thomas would go on to sign a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams in November of 2022, play two seasons there, followed by splitting time with New England and Houston in the 2024 campaign.
