Aztecs Finish Final Day of Wildcat Invite

The Aztecs claimed two victories over the weekend, but came up short on the last day.

TUCSON, Ariz. – San Diego State men’s tennis wrapped up its first tournament of the fall schedule on Sunday, competing in the final four matches of the Kinlen and Vivian Gee Wildcat Invite at the University of Arizona. The Aztecs claimed two victories over the weekend, but came up short on the last day.

On Friday, Brock Anderson defeated New Mexico State’s Laurendi Fischer 6-1, 6-2 in the senior’s first win of the season. On Saturday, Anderson paired up with William Kleege in a 8-6 win against Lenny Haddad and Samuel Pohl out of UNLV.

In Sunday’s singles competition, Maxime Baur was tripped up 6-2, 6-2 by Northern Arizona’s Kai Mills while Anderson’s match against New Mexico’s Andrew Lavine was left unfinished with the Aztec behind 1-0.

In doubles, Blake Anderson and Baur fell by a narrow score of 8-6 to Nikhil Srivasta and Carl Labitzke out of New Mexico. Brock Anderson and Kleege retired their match at 1-0 against NAU’s Daniels Tens and Ivan Perisic.

The Aztecs will return to action on Sep. 21 as they head to the Barnes Tennis Center for the San Diego Challenger.
