STUDENT-ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT

Please tell us about yourself.

My name is Peyton Bedrosian, and I am from Paso Robles, CA. I am currently a third-year student-athlete at San Diego State University, where I compete as a pole vaulter on the track and field team. Outside of athletics, I am pursuing a degree in Business Marketing and serve on the executive board of SDSU's Sports Business Initiative.

What is your favorite highlight or memory from SDSU Track and Field?

My favorite highlight during my time with SDSU Track and Field is placing 3rd in the pole vault at the 2025 Mountain West Outdoor Championships. This was a great meet for me because I earned a new personal best and was also able to show up and score points for my team.

What do you enjoy most about training with Coach Fox?

What I enjoy most about training with Coach Fox is knowing that he truly believes in me and is invested in my success. I appreciate how patient he is and how he takes the time to recognize what I need individually to grow. Having a coach who supports me in that way has made a big difference in my confidence as an athlete.

What are the difficulties you've faced as a full-time student-athlete?

One of the biggest challenges for me has been balancing the mental demands of being both a student and an athlete. It can be difficult to switch between focusing on school and competing in track, especially during the season when we're traveling and I'm missing classes or exams. I'm still learning how to manage that balance, but it's taught me how important it is to stay organized and understand what to prioritize.

How can Aztec fans and donors get involved with the Track and Field program directly?

Aztec fans and donors can get involved with the Track and Field program by donating to the Track and Field Student Athlete Recruitment and Retention Fund.

What is one thing fans can look forward to in the 2026 season?

Something to look forward to is our transition into the Pac-12. I’ll be excited to see how the competition changes as we go against new schools.

Please tell us about your Aztecs Going Pro internship.

Working with the Aztec Club has been a great opportunity to learn more about the development side of college athletics. There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes and it’s interesting to see how the Aztec Club and donor support directly impacts my experience and other student-athletes’ experiences at SDSU.

How is your internship through Aztecs Going Pro preparing you for the workforce after graduating?

My internship through Aztecs Going Pro has given me hands on experience and a better understanding of what it looks like to work in a professional office setting. I have had the opportunity to speak to SDSU Athletics staff across different departments, including development, fundraising, event planning, marketing, sales, and facilities. Hearing about the different paths each person took to build a career in sports has been one of the most valuable parts of the internship.

What skills have you gained from interning for the Aztec Club?

Some of the biggest lessons I've taken away from this internship are the importance of building strong relationships and staying organized. In the sports industry, communication and planning are some of the most important things to consider.
