SAN DIEGO – This summer, Aztecs Going Pro is providing 34 San Diego State student-athletes with hands-on professional experience through its annual Summer Internship Program. Representing 13 different sports, student-athletes are participating in internships designed to help them explore career interests, develop transferable skills, and build meaningful professional connections while continuing to compete at the highest level.
The 2026 cohort includes 23 student-athletes serving in internal internships across SDSU Athletics departments and 14 student-athletes completing external internships with organizations throughout a variety of industries. These opportunities reflect Aztecs Going Pro's commitment to preparing student-athletes for successful careers after graduation through experiential learning.
"I'm excited to work with the AGP team this summer because I know how valuable these opportunities are for student-athletes," said Charlotte Sevin, Aztecs Going Pro Marketing and Programming Intern and SDSU women's swim and dive student-athlete. Throughout the summer, interns are applying the leadership, communication, and teamwork skills they have developed as student-athletes in professional settings while gaining valuable experience that prepares them for future careers. By connecting student-athletes with campus partners, employers, alumni, and industry professionals, the Aztecs Going Pro Summer Internship Program continues to bridge the gap between athletics and career readiness.
"I'm really looking forward to continuing to learn more about strength and conditioning and applying what I learn while working with different athletes and teams, and also applying it to my everyday life being an athlete," said Carsten Mamaril, Football student-athlete and Strength & Conditioning intern. "This opportunity means a lot to me because I'm passionate about strength and conditioning, and as a student-athlete, it's not always easy to find internships that fit my schedule. I'm really grateful for this opportunity and excited to keep learning, growing, and making more connections."
The Summer Internship Program is a key component of Aztecs Going Pro's career development initiatives, helping student-athletes build confidence, expand their professional networks, and prepare for success beyond graduation.
