EUGENE, ORE.Jenna Fee Feyerabend finished her first round of competition at the NCAA heptathlon championship at Hayward Field and currently sits in 18th place after the first four events. Feyerabend raced in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash while also throwing the shot put and competing in the high jump.

Feyerabend’s top performance of the day came in the throw pits. The senior from Groß-Gerau, Germany entered the weekend with the third best shot put mark out of all the entries. Feyerabend lived up to her seeded position and secured a third-place finish in the shot put with a 13.82m throw. She was one of four athletes to clear the 13-meter mark and earned 782 points for her effort.

Feyerabend earned another 879 points in the high jump and 929 points from the 100-meter hurdles. In the high jump she cleared 1.72m outperforming athletes from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and Baylor. She ended the day in the 200-meter dash where she ran a final time of 26.06.

The heptathlon will continue tomorrow with the long jump slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. PST followed by the javelin and 800-meter run. Feyerabend enters the second day ranked fourth in the javelin throw among the competitors, which will give her an opportunity to climb up the leaderboard with another strong performance in the throwing events. The entirety of the combined events, including the men’s decathlon, will be streamed on ESPN+. The remainder of the events will be broadcast on ESPN 2 as well as streamed on ESPN+.
