SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s basketball will compete in the inaugural National University Bill Walton Classic on Saturday, November 7 at Pechanga Arena against the Colorado Buffaloes. The announcement was made by Sports San Diego.

The event will be preceded by a matchup of the women’s programs from UC San Diego and University of San Diego.

SDSU and CU will meet for the seventh time, but for the first since the 1975-76 campaign. The series is tied 3-3 with the Aztecs’ two wins in San Diego coming at Pechanga Arena, then known as the Sport Arena.

“Bill Walton was such a San Diego icon,” San Diego State head men’s basketball coach Brian Dutcher said, “and with Chris Walton having played for the Aztecs, this event is really a family affair for us. We could not be prouder to be invited to honor Bill by competing in the inaugural National University Bill Walton Classic.”

Tip time for the game will be announced at a later date.
