SAN DIEGO – San Diego State softball’s Faith Jordan, Lala Macario, Key-annah Pu’a, Jazmin Williams and Angie Yellen were selected to the 2026 Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday.
The Academic All-District Teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada, and recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Some Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected next month.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve (play in 90% of team games or start 66% of team games for hitters; appear in 17 games or pitch 35 innings for pitchers) with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
San Diego State matched the program record, set last season, with five players named to the team, following four selections in 2024. Prior to the 2024 campaign, the Aztecs had just six players all-time earn a spot on the Academic All-District Team.
A transfer from Fresno State, Jordan accumulated a 3.510 GPA as a public health major entering the spring. The junior’s first season on The Mesa was highlighted by a no-hitter at Long Beach State on March 4. She also earned the team’s pitching triple crown, leading the Aztecs with a 3.39 ERA, eight wins and 68 strikeouts.
Macario, a senior, had a 3.91 GPA heading into her final semester of college and majored in liberal arts. She was named to the All-Mountain Preseason Team and selected as an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention. The Aztecs’ second baseman was one of three players to start all 50 games and scored 29 runs while walking 17 times, both the second-most on the roster.
Another pitcher that transferred from Fresno State, Pu’a was a sociology major and put together a 3.83 GPA through the fall. The Nipomo, California, native was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week on February 16 after six strikeouts and just one earned run in 11.2 innings across three appearances, all SDSU wins. She ate innings, leading the team with 17 starts, 91.1 innings pitched, and a 1.20 WHIP, and ranked 43rd in the nation with 1.53 walks allowed per seven innings while placing ninth in the conference with a .254 batting average against.
An honoree for the second consecutive year, Williams improved her GPA to 3.71. On the field, the business administration major served as the Aztecs’ primary left fielder, starting 49 of the team’s 50 games in that position. She led the team with 31 runs scored, three triples, 19 extra base hits and 93 total bases while ranking highly in numerous other categories including a second-place finish in OPS (.985).
Also making the team for her second straight season, Yellen, a political science major, increased her GPA to 3.86 entering the spring semester. On the diamond, she played in all 50 games, starting 49 times, mostly at third base. She tallied an .842 OPS and put together a big performance against Princeton on March 8, finishing a triple shy of the cycle with a home run, two doubles, a single and two runs scored for a total of nine total bases, the most by any Aztec in a game all season long.
