SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis had four athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the 2025-26 season, CSC has announced. Gloria Alogo, Jo-Yee Chan, Vesa Gjinaj and Teja Tirunelveli each earned all-district distinction for their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.

Garnering all-district honors requires a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, at least a sophomore class standing both academically and athletically, as well as having competed in 75% of competitions in which a team score was awarded.

Alogo and Chan have also been selected as finalists on the Academic All-America ballot. The national awards will be announced on June 2.

This is the first academic award as an Aztec for Tirunelveli, who completed her first season on The Mesa after transferring from the University of Arizona. In addition to her success in her studies, Tirunelveli tallied a 20-7 overall singles record, including 13-4 in dual matches.

Chan, Alogo and Gjinaj add to their accolades, each having been named scholar-athletes by both the ITA and the Mountain West in 2025. The three Aztecs joined Tirunelveli in the starting lineup to help lead San Diego State to Mountain West Regular Season and Tournament Championships in one of the most successful seasons in program history. Playing in the top spot, Chan logged a 24-8 overall singles record and 30-7 in doubles. Alogo finished 14-6 in singles and 17-9 in doubles, and Gjinaj tabbed an 18-7 singles record.

All eight Aztecs thrived academically this year, recording the highest team GPA on campus for the fall semester at an impressive 3.71.
