SAN DIEGO – Regular-season champion San Diego State heads into the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Baseball Championship with a No. 1 seed, as the conference released its tournament bracket on Saturday night.
The 2026 MW Championship will be held May 21-24 at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.
By virtue of its top seed, the Aztecs earned a first-round bye and will await the winner of the first-round matchup between fourth-seeded Nevada and No. 5 seed New Mexico on Friday, May 22 at 1:05 p.m. PT.
The Wolf Pack will face the Lobos on Wednesday, May 21 at 6:05 p.m. PT. Earlier that day, third-seeded Air Force will battle No. 6 seed UNLV at 1:05 p.m., with the victor advancing to play second-seeded Washington State on Friday at 6:05 p.m.
Following Wednesday’s first-round games, the 2026 Mountain West Championship enters into a double-elimination format for the remainder of the tournament.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Kevin Vance, San Diego State posted a 33-22 overall record during the 2026 campaign and a 16-8 mark in conference play. Since April 1, the Aztecs have gone 17-6, highlighted by an 11-game winning streak, the program’s longest such span since 1997.
Entering the MW Championship, SDSU is 9-6 against this year’s tournament field, posting sweeps of Air Force and Nevada during the regular season to go with a series victory over Washington State.
The Aztecs have won the most Mountain West postseason championships, taking home six crowns since the league's inception (2000, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018). In all, San Diego State has posted a 51-36 record in 23 MW tournament appearances.
Additionally, the Aztecs have four Mountain West regular-season titles to their credit (2000, 2004, 2023, 2026).
