SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women’s golf team is playing in SMU’s Huntington Bank Collegiate at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas Monday-Tuesday.
The competitive 17-team field will feature nine teams ranked in the top 50: No. 13, No. 15 UCLA, No. 18 Tennessee, No. 23 Oklahoma, No. 27 Oklahoma State, No. 30 SMU, No. 32 Houston, No. 41 TCU, No. 50 Texas Tech Also competing is Colorado State, Cal Poly, Seattle, Tulane, Iowa and Japan’s Nihon University.
SDSU’s lineup for the tournament will be Kylie Phi, Stephanie Barbaglia, Ema Narita, Manon Martin and Kylie Warner.
Phi (Fountain Valley, Calif.) is the reigning Mountain West Golfer of the Week after tying for seventh at the Silicon Valley Showcase with a four-over-par 217. That was her fifth top-11 finish on the year and bumped her up 49 spots in the national rankings and improved her record to 448-195-27.
Stephanie Barbaglia (Johannesburg, South Africa) has made a team-high 30 starts in her SDSU career and finished second among Aztecs at the recent Silicon Valley Showcase with a T-24th finish (224, +11).
Narita (Tokyo, Japan) has finished in the top 20 in every tournament but one this spring and has a team best 518-134-18 record on the year.
Manon Martin (Courbevoie, France) has posted career-low 54-hole scores in three of the last five tournaments and has two top 10 finishes this spring.
Warner will be making her spring debut. The North Dakota transfer made one start in the fall and shot a 225 (+9).
The Trinity Forest Golf Club is 6,657 yards and plays as a par 72. Teams will tee off with a 6:30 a.m. PT shotgun start each day, and the Aztecs will play with Oklahoma State and Tulane on the first day.
The forecast calls for temperatures reaching the low 70s.
