AUSTIN, TEXAS– San Diego State Track & Field kicked off the first day of the Texas Invitational with strong showings across four events. The Aztec’s top pole vaulter, Isabella Nilsen, led the way with a new personal best while Anna Mager also posted a career-best time in the 400-meter hurdles.
Isabella Nilsen has been SDSU’s top pole vaulter across both the indoor and outdoor season. The 2026 Mountain West Indoor silver medalist posted a career best 4.25m vault in her last regular season appearance while taking second place for the day. She is now ranked as the sixth best outdoor pole vaulter in San Diego State history while also currently owning the second-best mark in the Mountain West. Sydney Ash earned a third-place finish by vaulting 3.90m.
On the track, Anna Mager also earned a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles. Mager finished in third by running 58.60, while fellow Aztec Lidia Major claimed fifth place while running 59.73. In the 200-meter dash, nine Aztecs competed with Aji Mbye leading the way. In a field of over 40 competitors, Mbye finished in eighth place with a final time of 23.35.
Rounding out the day of competition was the long jump. All-American Xiamara Young finished in second with a 5.88m jump. Alyssa Alumbres was not far behind, jumping a personal best of 5.67m on her way to a career-best performance. Jenna Fee Feyerabend was the third Aztec to clear 5.50m with a 5.52m jump on her fourth attempt of the day.

San Diego State will return to Mike A. Myers Stadium to compete across a variety of events including the shot put, triple jump and 100-meter dash. Meanwhile, the distance team will begin their weekend of competition at the Steve Scott Invitational. The distance program will kickstart their weekend in the 800-meter run before also racing in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter races.
