RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The San Diego State women’s golf team finished the Mountain West Championships Thursday. The Aztecs finished in eighth place and were led by Kylie Phi, who tied for 10th with a four-over-par 220.
Phi had her best round of the tournament Thursday, shooting an even par 72 highlighted by four birdies, all of which came in the final 10 holes. This was Phi’s sixth time finishing in the top 11 this season and second straight top-15 placement at the MW Championship.
Ema Narita finished tied for 20th with an eight-over-par 224. She shot a 78 in the final round after shooting a 74 and 72 in the first two rounds.
Kylie Warner finished three strokes behind Narita with a 227 after shooting a 79 in the final round.
Freshman Manon Martin had the second-best score among Aztecs Thursday with a five-over-par 77 and finished with a 234 (+18).
Emilia Omander, who subbed in for Stephanie Barbaglia after the first round, recorded a 79 in the third round.
UNLV rallied to win the championship, edging out San Jose State by two strokes. Boise State’s Leia Chung won the individual championship with a five-under-par 11.
