SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is gearing up for the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championships, where they will take on Wyoming at 10 a.m. PT on Thursday. As the No. 1 overall seed, the Aztecs received a first round bye, while Wyoming took down New Mexico in Wednesday’s opening round.

The Aztecs finished the regular season with an 18-3 record and 10-1 in the Mountain West, capturing their second consecutive regular season conference championship after a 4-0 win over Grand Canyon last Friday. The team amassed a 32-7 Mountain West record in singles (113-52 overall) and 17-5 in doubles (62-24 overall).

Wyoming enters the quarterfinal match as the No. 8 seed with a 12-10 overall record and 4-7 in conference play. The Cowgirls advanced in the tournament following a 4-2 win over ninth-seeded New Mexico on Wednesday. The first time the two teams met this season, the Aztecs claimed a 4-1 victory at home.

Prior to the start of the tournament on Tuesday, the Mountain West recognized 16 singles players and eight doubles teams with all-conference accolades. San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan and Gloria Alogo earned singles honors while Chan/Vessa Turley and Jayna Clemens/Ninon Martinache received doubles recognition.

The winner of Thursday morning’s match will advance to Friday’s semifinal where they will take on either No. 5 Grand Canyon or No. 4 Air Force at 11 a.m. PT.
