Tied for first place in the Mountain West standings, the Aztecs hold a 17-3 overall record and 9-1 in conference play. With a win over the Lopes on Friday, the Aztecs would clinch a share of the regular season conference championship. In the case of a tie between No. 53 San Diego State, No. 60 Boise State and No. 71 UNLV, Mountain West Tournament seeding will be determined by ITA National Rankings.
The Lopes enter Friday’s match with a 13-10 overall record and 6-4 in the league, most recently taking down Wyoming 4-3.
This will be just the fifth meeting between the two programs. San Diego State currently leads the all-time series 3-1, having taken the last match 5-1 in 2025.
Prior to first serve, Head Coach Nicolas Vinel will honor the team’s three seniors, Gloria Alogo, Jo-Yee Chan and Ninon Martinache. The three Aztecs have helped usher in a new era of San Diego State women’s tennis, including two conference championships, as the program wraps up its final season in the Mountain West. They have each found success wearing the Scarlet and Black, with Chan amassing a 37-21 singles and 44-19 doubles record as an Aztec, while Alogo notched a 38-22 singles record and 26-33 in doubles and Martinache boasts a 30-22 singles record and 36-12 in doubles.
Following Friday’s action, the Aztecs will head to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Championships, taking place April 22-25. The bracket will be announced Friday evening.
