SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s track and field will be busy this week as the team prepares to split the roster across a pair of meets in southern California. The distance team will race across five different events at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific while the rest of the program heads to Walnut, California to compete in the iconic Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Samantha Wood looks to lead the Aztecs as she is slated to race in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase as well as the 1,500-meter run. Wood currently owns the third fastest 3,000-meter steeplechase performance in the SDSU record books. She also holds the seventh fastest times in program history for both the indoor mile and 1,500-meter run.

Sara Jones, who entered the Aztec’s all-time top 10 for the 1,500-meter run, will be making her 2026 outdoor 800-meter run debut alongside Isabella Fauria and Tatum Zinkin. Zinkin will also race in the 1,500-meters for the first time this season as well.

Presley Bennett, Emilia Greenway, Maddie Heller and Alexis Wolfinger will represent SDSU in the 5,000-meter, with Bennett also racing 10,000-meters later in the weekend as well.

At the Mt. SAC Relays, SDSU will send a contingent of athletes featuring sprinters, pole vaulters, jumpers and hurdlers. Multiple Aztecs will compete in the “Elite” division, featuring athletes from some of the top college programs in the nation. The teams’ highly ranked pole vault squad, featuring Jordan Leveque, Peyton Bedrosian, Sydney Ash and Isabella Nilsen, will face off against competitors from Washington, UCLA, Duke, Oklahoma and more.

On the track, the trio of Charlize James, Jada Pierre and Ana Luisa Couto Soares Ferraz will race in the Elite section of the 100-meter hurdles. Pierre currently owns the top time in the Mountain West for the hurdles, with James close behind as she is also among the top five in the conference. Xiamara Young will represent San Diego State among the Elite division as well. The two-time indoor all-American will compete in both the long and triple jumps.

Olivia Hicks and Aji Mbye are primed to race in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Hicks and Mbye are currently the Aztecs top two 200-meter sprinters with Mbye owning a season best of 23.34 while Hicks ran a new personal best of 23.63 at last week's Aztec Invitational. Mbye is also tied for the fifth fastest outdoor 100-meter dash in SDSU history.
