Coming off a pair of gold medal victories at the Mountain West Championships, Young officially qualified for the NCAA National Championship in both the long and triple jump.

SAN DIEGOXiamara Young’s dominant indoor season is set to be capped off with an appearance at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas next week from March 13-14.

Young has rewritten the San Diego State indoor record books this season having officially moved into second place all-time for the long jump and third place for the triple. At the conference championship meet she won her first gold medal behind a 6.50m long jump performance. Only one other competitor cleared the 6.00m mark. In the triple jump, she won gold with a season best 13.48m mark. Young would clear 13.00m on all six of her attempts on the way to her second gold medal.

By the end of the regular season, she was twice named the Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week, selected to the All-Conference team in both jumping events and owned the ninth best triple jump mark and fourteenth best long jump mark in the NCAA Division I. Young will first compete in the long jump on Friday, March 13 before wrapping up the indoor season on March 14 in the triple jump.

The national championship will be streamed live on ESPN+ with the University of Arkansas hosting at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
