LONG BEACH, CALIF. – San Diego State women’s track and field is preparing to send a pair of distance runners to Jack Rose Track this Saturday to officially begin the 2026 outdoor season.
Tatum Zinkin and Rebekah Niednagel will represent the Aztecs in the 1,500-meter and 800-meter runs respectively. Niednagel last saw action at the UW Invitational and Mile City meets on January 31 in Seattle. She currently owns a 4:35.77 seed time heading into Saturday which has her ranked fourth in the event.
Zinkin is set to compete in the 800-meter dash. During the indoor season she posted a 2:16.15 time at the UW Invitational meet. She enters the meet with the top seeded time of 2:09.98.
The Aztecs will be busy over the next two weeks starting with the Beach Opener. On March 13 Xiamara Young will begin competing at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in both the long and triple jumps. Meanwhile, the Aztec Coastal Classic and Distance Carnival will also begin on March 13 featuring a day long meet that will see upwards of 20 different distance races in the evening.
