COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State’s Harry Takis (Brisbane, Australia) has been named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday. It is the second career golfer of the week award for Takis (also Jan. 29), who was the MW Freshman of the Year and three-time MW Freshman of the Week in the 2024-25 season.
Takis finished in a tie for seventh out of 84 golfers at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas earlier this week. Takis shot a 4-under 212 to tie for seventh in a field where all 15 teams were among the top-50 in the country, including No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 Texas, No. 8 Pepperdine, No. 12 Illinois, No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 19 New Mexico, No. 25 San Diego State No. 29 Texas A&M, No. 31 UCLA, tournament host No. 33 UNLV, No. 34 Georgia, No. 35 Washington and No. 46 South Carolina.
Takis opened with a 5-under 67, which was tied for the second-lowest round in the tournament out of 251 rounds played. He then shot a 1-over 73 and an even-par 72 at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club.
On the season, Takis is the top-ranked player in the latest Scoreboard powered by clippd computer ratings, which were released Wednesday. He is averaging 69.33 strokes per round across four tournaments and 12 rounds in 2025-26. Out of his four tournaments, he tied for second at the Sahalee Players Championship on Sept. 6-7, won the Southwestern Invitational on Jan. 26-28, took second at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 12-14 and then tied for seventh at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on March 1-3.
The Aztecs play host to their lone tournament of the season with the R.E. Lamkin Invitational, March 9-10 at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, California.
