LOS ANGELES – San Diego State lacrosse was downed 13-3 on the road at USC on Wednesday night. The Aztecs fall to a 1-4 record while the Trojans improve to 5-2 on the season.

Despite Macie Buell, Keira Doyle-Odenbach and Mia Maechtel finding scoring opportunities with one goal apiece, the Aztecs were unable to overcome the Trojan defense, scoring a season-low three points.

Doyle-Odenbach and Maechtel continue to be San Diego State’s leading scorers with 11 and 10 goals, respectively.

USC was led by Kaylee Fravert and Alex May with three goals each. Sydney Stewart scored two and Reese Robinson, Hannah Barron, Anna Regan, Lillie Cope and Maggie Ramsey all put one in the back of the net.

Defensively, Maya Tillman led the way for the Scarlet and Black, matching her career high three caused turnovers while also picking up two ground balls. Sophia Miller forced two turnovers and Maechtel, Liv Tramontana and Molly Jacobson each had one.

All three Aztec goals were assisted with Tate Stokesberry, Jacobson and Maechtel finding their teammates.

The draw favored the Trojans, who amassed 13 draw controls, led by Regan with six on the day.

Caitlin Boughton played all 60 minutes in the cage and recorded a season high 13 saves off 38 shots faced. USC’s Ellie Thomas also played a full game, grabbing five saves off 14 shots faced.

Next up, San Diego State returns to The Mesa as it welcomes No. 17 Penn State to Aztec Field for a noon matchup on Sunday.
