SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse is gearing up for conference play, traveling to Boulder to take on No. 14 Colorado in the team’s Big 12 opener on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT.

The Aztecs are 2-7 on the season entering their first conference game, fresh off a road trip to Ohio where they fell 11-10 to Kent State before taking down Akron 14-13.

The 14th-ranked Buffs hold a 6-2 overall record, including 4-0 at home. They’ve won their last two, defeating Stetson18-3 and UConn 11-5.

This will be the 12th meeting of the two programs. The Aztecs have yet to claim a win over the Buffs, who took the last matchup 16-12 in 2025.

Keira Doyle-Odenbach and Mia Maechtel continue to lead the San Diego State offense with 21 and 20 goals, respectively. Following her school record breaking performance of 13 draw controls against Columbia on March 13, the sophomore midfielder etched her name in the record books once again with six goals at Akron, tying her for the sixth most goals in a single game by an Aztec. Against Columbia, Maechtel recorded a career high five goals and three assists, as well as two ground balls.

Defensively, sophomore Maya Tillman leads the Aztecs as well as the Big 12 with an average of 1.7 caused turnovers per game and a total of 16 on the year. Saturday’s matchup is primed to be aa defensive battle between the top two teams in caused turnovers per game.

Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Boughton has started in all nine games so far this season, recording 54 saves off 202 shots faced and 99 goals allowed in 452 minutes of play.

Following Saturday’s action, the team will return to Aztec Field to host Rutgers in their final non-conference game on Monday.
