SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse is headed to Ohio this weekend to take on Kent State and Akron in their final non-conference road trip of the season. The Aztecs will first face the Golden Flashes at 3 p.m. PT on Friday, followed by a matchup against the Zips at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The Aztecs have a 1-6 record through the first half of the 2026 campaign. Last time out, they came up just short against Columbia in a 17-15 decision.
The Golden Flashes are 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the MAC, most recently falling 10-6 to Akron at home.
The Zips have a 7-2 record, including 2-0 in the MAC. Prior to their win over conference foe Kent State, they took down Detroit Mercy 24-2.
In San Diego State’s game against Columbia, sophomore Keira Doyle-Odenbach broke the school record for most draw controls in a single game with 13 on the day, surpassing Jill Haight’s 12, which was set in 2018. She also scored a career high four goals while adding two caused turnovers, one assist and one ground ball. The standout performance earned her Big 12 Midfielder of the Week distinction for the second time this season.
Doyle-Odenbach is the team’s second leading scorer with 11 goals, following sophomore attacker Mia Maechtel who has been dominant on the offensive side of the field with 18 points off 12 goals and six assists. Maechtel led the way against Columbia with a career high five goals and three assists.
The Aztec defense ranks second in the Big 12 in caused turnovers per game, averaging 10.71 per outing with 75 on the season. Sophomore Maya Tillman leads the team and the league in caused turnovers per game with 1.86 (13 total).
Following this weekend’s action, the Aztecs will kick off conference play on the road at No. 14 Colorado on March 28.
