FAYETTEVILLE, ARK.Xiamara Young completed her first day at the NCAA Indoor National Championship with a solid showing in the long jump. Young was one of 16 qualifiers and competed against athletes from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC conferences. She entered the weekend coming off a personal and season best 6.50m jump at the 2026 Mountain West Indoor Championships.

In her second attempt of the day, she cleared 6.05m and wraps up the indoor season with a top 12 finish in the nation in her first ever NCAA appearance for the long jump. Young will now turn her focus to her signature event, the triple jump tomorrow. After a 13.48m performance at the Mountain West Championship Young moved into the top 10 in the NCAA and will be seeded ninth. During the 2024 Indoor Championships Young earned a ninth-place finish and will look to improve upon her 2024 showing and earn points for the Aztecs on the national stage.

The women’s triple jump will feature athletes from Texas Tech, Illinois, Georgia and Florida among others. The event is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. PST and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
