SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s track and field is set to host the Aztec Coastal Classic and Distance Carnival as the team’s first major competition of the 2026 outdoor season. Overall, 27 Aztecs are set to make their outdoor season debut across 13 different events.
The highlight of the evening will be the Distance Carnival that will feature 12 different Aztecs. Samantha Wood enters the meet with the second-best seed time in the 3,000-meter steeple chase. The duo of Tatum Zinkin and Ginger Oberg will also be poised for solid showings as both will be seeded in the top 10 for the 800-meter run.
In the field events, San Diego State will have six pole vaulters competing including Mountain West Indoor silver medalist Isabella Nilsen. Kayla Tassara will also vault for the first time in 2026. After competing unattached during the indoor season, Jenna Fee Feyerabend will return to competition for the Aztecs. One of the best pentathlon and heptathlon athletes in program history, Feyerabend will compete in the shot put, high jump and 100-meter hurdles.
The sprints team is also going to be busy with 10 athletes racing. Jada Pierre, the reigning Mountain West 100-meter hurdles champion, will debut for the Aztecs in the 100-meter dash. Laraigh Allen and Lidia Major both have the top two seed times in the 400-meter dash with 200-meter indoor silver medalist Aji Mbye debuting in the 400 as well.
San Diego State team will compete against over 11 different institutions as the meet is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. with the shot put through 10:00 p.m. with the 5,000-meter runs concluding the evening. Tickets can be found HERE and will be held on the SDSU Sports Deck.
Individual Notes
- Jenna Fee Feyerabend and Jada Pierre return to action for the Aztecs. Pierre is the reigning gold medalist for the 100-meter hurdles. Feyerabend won gold in the Heptathlon two years in a row.
- Six Aztecs will compete for the first time after not seeing action for SDSU during the indoor season (Kayla Tassara, Presley Bennett, Maddy Parrone, Jada Pierre and Jenna Fee Feyerabend)
- Xiamara Young will be in Arkansas competing in both the long and triple jump at the NCAA Nationals starting on March 13.
