SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse is set for its 2026 season opener, welcoming California to Snapdragon Stadium for a Friday evening matchup, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here. You can also follow along via live stream or live stats.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and parking is free. There will be a replica jersey giveaway for the first 500 fans, located at the Alaska Airlines Gate on the southeast side of the stadium.
This is the 15th meeting between the two programs, with the Aztecs leading the all-time series 10-4. Cal won the last matchup 17-13 in 2024, which snapped San Diego State’s eight-game winning streak against the Bears. Most recently, the Aztecs won by a score of 11-9 in 2023.
San Diego State is 3-1 in games played at Snapdragon Stadium. Last season, the Aztecs faced East Carolina, scoring a goal in the final minute to push past the pirates in a 17-16 win.
Coach Kylee White and the 2026 Aztecs unofficially kicked off the season in an exhibition victory over Pomona-Pitzer last Saturday. The offense was led by sophomore Keira Doyle-Odenbach, who recorded four goals. The midfielder out of Orland Park, Ill. is a key returner for the Scarlet and Black, gaining conference recognition as one of 18 athletes named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
Cal is coming off a 6-10 campaign in its inaugural season in the ACC, recording its most wins since 2019. Head coach Jennifer Wong, in her fourth season at the helm, welcomed a large freshman class of nine student-athletes to the 2026 roster. Their leading scorer, Emily Moes, returns for her junior season after amassing 34 goals and seven assists as a sophomore.
Senior captain Caitlin Boughton started in the cage for the Aztecs last weekend. The South Riding, Va. native holds the eighth-most saves in a single season in program history with 121 in 2024. Her 19 saves against Liberty also ties for the second-most in a single game by an Aztec.
Senior goalkeeper Chloe Rand played 342:50 minutes for the Bears last season behind starting keeper Callan Fritsch, who completed her final year of eligibility.
Following Friday’s contest, the Aztecs will be back in action on Feb. 12 as they host Fairleigh Dickinson at Aztec Field, beginning at 7 p.m.
