Ranked 22nd in the nation, the Aztecs are 6-1 on the season after having won five straight, most recently taking down No. 68 Sacramento State 5-2 on Sunday. They also hold wins over Point Loma, UC San Diego, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount and Hawaii. Their lone loss came on the road at No. 5 UCLA.
San Diego enters the contest with a 5-5 record. The Toreros last played at No. 17 Washington, where they were blanked 4-0. Prior to that, they downed No. 33 Utah by a score of 4-3.
There are three nationally ranked student-athletes between the two programs. SDSU’s Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley are 38th in the ITA standings in doubles, boasting a 15-3 record, while San Diego’s Hannah Read ranks 112th in singles and is 10-10 on the season.
This will be the 54th meeting of the two teams. The Aztecs took the most recent matchup 4-0 in 2025 and lead the all-time series 29-24.
Following Saturday’s match, the team will return to the Aztec Tennis Center to take on Cal Poly on March 6, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
