SAN DIEGO – Nala Williams of the San Diego State women’s basketball team was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. Williams averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.0 steals while helping SDSU go 2-0 on the week and clinch at least a share of the Mountain West Regular Season Championship.
Williams (Long Beach, Calif.) had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and zero turnovers against second place UNLV Wednesday night.
She then had 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals vs. Fresno State on Saturday.
Williams leads the Mountain West and is 15th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio.
This is Williams’ second time winning Mountain West Player of the Week this season and the ninth time she has won a conference’s weekly honor in her career (seven times at Cal State Dominguez).
The Aztecs play at Boise State Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. PT and can secure the outright championship with a win.
