SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women’s golf team is playing in UC Davis’s Causeway Invitational Monday-Tuesday at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif. Teams will play 36 holes Monday and then the final 18 Tuesday morning.
Seven of the 10 schools competing are from California. The Aztecs will go against Cal Poly, Colorado, Nevada, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, UC Davis, and UC Riverside. Colorado is the only school ranked in the top 50. San Diego State is currently ranked No. 105.
SDSU’s lineup for the match will be Kylie Phi, Ema Narita, Stephanie Barbaglia, Manon Martin and Emilia Omander. Emma Delwes will be playing as an individual.
Phi (Fountain Valley, Calif.) is coming off a T-11th finish at the San Diego State Classic. It was her third top 11 finish of the year and helped her jump 41 spots in the national rankings. She has a 288-103-16 record, a 73.19 stroke average and a perfect count percentage on the year.
Narita (Tokyo, Japan) leads the Aztecs with a 326-70-11 record and a stroke average of 72.56. This spring, she was co-champion of the Long Beach State Dual match and finished 16th at the San Diego State Classic.
Barbaglia (Johannesburg, South Africa) has shot between a 223 and 225 in each of her last four tournaments. She has started every tournament for the Aztecs since the beginning of 2023-24 season. At last year’s Causeway Invitational, she led the Aztecs with a four-over-par 220.
Manon Martin (Courbevoie, France) has won Mountain West Freshman of the Week after each of SDSU’s two spring competitions. She had a career-best showing at the San Diego State Classic with an eight-over-par, which featured a one-under-par 71 in the opening round.
Omander (Cologne, Germany) has started both competitions this spring and played in eight tournaments as a freshman last year.
Delwes (Verden, Germany) appeared in three tournaments in the fall and shot a career-best five-over-par 221 at the Golf Iconic Classic.
Del Paso Country Club course plays 6,086 yards and is a par 72.
Monday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching the mid-60s. On Tuesday, it will be cooler with a good chance of rain.
