SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis will round out its four-match home stand this weekend, welcoming No. 68 Sacramento State to the Aztec Tennis Center on Sunday for an 11 a.m. contest.

Ranked 22nd in the nation, the Aztecs are on a four-match winning streak and hold a 5-1 dual match record. Most recently, the team swept Hawaii 4-0 at home in their fourth shutout victory of the season. Their No. 22 ranking is the highest for the program since 1992-93.
Vessa Turley and Jo-Yee Chan also made it into this week’s ITA rankings, checking in at No. 38 in doubles. The duo is 14-3 on the season and 3-1 in dual matches while playing in the top spot.
Sacramento State enters the matchup ranked 68th in the nation with a 5-3 record. The Hornets hold wins over Hawaii Pacific (7-0), Saint Mary’s (6-1), Washington State (4-3), Fresno State (4-3) and Pacific (4-0). They lost narrowly at No. 11 Stanford (3-4) and twice at Hawaii (3-4). Prior to facing the Aztecs, they will play at Long Beach State on Saturday.
This will be the ninth meeting of the two programs, and the first since 2022 when the Aztecs took down the Hornets 6-1. San Diego State commands the all-time series 7-1.
Jayna Clemens currently leads the Aztecs in singles victories. On a four-match winning streak, the junior is 5-1 in dual singles, playing in the third and fourth spots. Behind Clemens is Teja Tirunelveli with a perfect 4-0 record playing on courts four, five and six. Taking the top court in all six matches this season has been senior Jo-Yee Chan, who holds a 3-1 record, and 14-5 overall.
Clemens and Ninon Martinache have also dominated in doubles competition, boasting a perfect 5-0 record in the second spot, and 10-1 on the season.
Following Sunday’s contest, the Aztecs will hit the road for the first time since Jan. 18, heading to the Hogan Tennis Center to face crosstown foe No. 30 San Diego on Feb. 28.
