San Diego State wrapped up their second day in Reno with five new personal bests along with Xiamara Young’s second triple jump victory of the season.

RENO, NEV. –San Diego State Track and Field spent Valentine’s Day competing at day two of the Battle Born Classic. It was another strong outing for the Aztecs with five individuals earning new personal best. The team also had five athletes post top five placements in their respective events highlighted by Xiamara Young’s victory in the triple jump.

As has been the case for much of the season, the Aztecs started the day with a dominant showing in the jumping pits. Xiamara Young earned her fourth, individual first place finish winning the triple jump with a mark of 13.34m. Alyssa Alumbres jumped for a new personal best of 12.12m on her way to a fourth-place finish as well.

The sprints team continued their solid weekend as well. Aji Mbye won her heat of the 200-meter dash on her way to a second-place overall finish and 23.48 final time. Shari Hurdman (24.09), Anna Mager (24.44), Takiyah Blue (24.62) and Lidia Major (24.86) all ran personal records while Olivia Hicks secured a sixth-place overall finish as well.

In the 400-meter dash Anna Mager rolled to a fifth-place finish behind an indoor season best 57.74. Laraigh Allen joined her as a top 10 finisher running 55.13 while winning her heat.

The distance team also saw action with six Aztecs racing in the 800-meter run. Isabella Fauria led the way, taking eighth place overall and winning her heat with a time of 2:15.52. Ginger Oberg and Sara Jones were not far behind Fauria finishing their heats in 2:16.42 and 2:17.73 respectively.

Lastly, San Diego State had a pair of 4x400 meter teams compete in a field of 18 relay squads. The team of Kelia Bentham, Laraigh Allen, Lidia Major and Shari Hurdman raced to a second-place finish and a final time of 3:40.58. The Aztec’s second team was a blend of sprinters and middle-distance runners. Takiyah Blue, Anna Mager, Tatum Zinkin and Ginger Oberg were solid in their debut as a relay group running 3:52.41.

This was the final regular season indoor meet for San Diego State. The team will once again return to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center to compete in their final Mountain West Conference Championships on February 27.
