SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse earned its first win of the 2026 campaign on Thursday, holding FDU to just five points in a 15-5 victory over the Knights in the first game played at Aztec Field.

The Aztecs improve to 1-1 while the Knights fall to 0-2.

“It was an absolute team win,” said Head Coach Kylee White. “Everyone on the field was a part of this win tonight. It’s really exciting to be able to hold a team to five goals. We played connected and we came out knowing we had to play tough because FDU is a really fast, athletic team. The team was able to translate everything we’ve gone over in practice into the game offensively. To have so many different people on the board assisting, it just means we’re moving the ball well, we’re seeing each other and we’re building chemistry.”

Freshmen Lilah Turley and Barrett Doan led the San Diego State offense with a career high three goals apiece. Turley also picked up two ground balls and one draw control in addition to causing one turnover. Doan added one assist and three draw controls.

Keira Doyle-Odenbach, Mia Maechtel and Megan McDevitt found the back of the net two times each while Macie Buell, Sophia Miller and Tatum Neach added one apiece.

Of the 15 goals scored by San Diego State, nine of them were assisted.

The Aztec defense overwhelmed the Knights, forcing 15 turnovers. Maya Tillman led the team with three on the day. The Scarlet and Black allowed only five goals, and just one in the first half. Starting goalkeeper Caitlin Boughton played 43 minutes in the cage, recording four saves. Grace Moore played for 11 minutes and grabbed two saves. Karli Weisser also got playing time, spending five minutes between the pipes.

FDU was led by Nora Codianni with two goals. The midfielder also recorded three draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover. Brielle McInaw, Karly Dillabough and Mia Layne each added one goal as well.

The Aztecs jumped out to a four-point lead by the 11:03 mark in the second period. The Knights got on the board with nine minutes left in the second stanza before SDSU scoured five unanswered goals. FDU added another to bring the score to 9-2. Despite scoring three consecutive points in the fourth period, the Aztecs finished with three of their own to close out the game in a 15-5 win.

Next up, San Diego State takes on Oregon at Aztec Field in a noon matchup on Monday, Feb. 16.
