SAN DIEGO – In its final tune up prior to the conference championships, the San Diego State diving contingent will travel to the Grand Canyon State this week for the second installment of the Lumberjack Invitational, Jan. 29-31, at Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The three-day meet commences for seven Aztec student-athletes on Thursday with the preliminaries of the 1-meter springboard at 10:30 a.m. MST, with the top 18 finishers advancing to the finals later in the day.

Friday's action features the same format for the 3-meter springboard with another 10:30 a.m. MST start, while Saturday's competition gets underway at the same time with two additional rounds of dives from the platform tower, as the top 12 placers qualify for the final session in that event.

Along with host Northern Arizona, SDSU will square off against fellow Mountain West members New Mexico and UNLV this week, as well as competitors from Arizona, Colorado Mesa, Idaho and New Mexico State.

Results on all three days may be accessed on DiveMeets.com.

On Jan. 26, the Aztecs' full swim and dive squad recorded its 85th consecutive dual-meet victory after posting a 155-108 triumph over the University of San Diego at Aztec Aquaplex.

SDSU divers played a key role in that win, as junior Isabella Gomez claimed event titles with career-best scores on the 1-meter (293.25) and 3-meter boards (326.85), with both performances surpassing NCAA zone qualifying standards.

In addition, the Aztecs received a pair of second-place performances from Belen Cano against the Toreros. The SDSU freshman eclipsed two NCAA zone qualifying marks of her own, logging season-highs in 1-meter (284.03) and 3-meter competition (296.48).

Fellow freshman Meja Palmer also compiled a season-high total of 280.13 points in 1-meter action to finish third, while junior Alina Skrocki (285.45) was slotted third on the 3-meter board, as both divers exceeded zone qualifying thresholds in their respective events.

The Aztecs will be making their second trip to Flagstaff this after competing at the first edition of the Lumberjack Invitational, Nov. 20-22.

Returning to her hometown, Skrocki (279.15) was victorious from the platform height, while Gomez (275.80) was a close second, followed by Keira Kuderka (225.35), who finished seventh, as all three student-athletes surpassed NCAA zone qualifying standards.

In the platform preliminary round, Skrocki compiled a score of 291.05, which ranks third in program history, while Gomez’s finals total was good for fifth on the school’s all-time charts.

Following the upcoming excursion to NAU, the entire San Diego State swim and dive team will reconvene in just over two weeks, seeking its fifth consecutive conference title at the 2026 Mountain West Championships, Feb. 18-21, in Houston, Texas.
