The Aztecs are coming off a successful fall season, where they amassed a 28-12 record in doubles, and 48-31 in singles. Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley, who qualified for the NCAA Championships after capturing the ITA Conference Masters doubles title, currently rank 23rd in the ITA national doubles rankings, while Chan is 88th in singles.
This is the second consecutive year that San Diego State and Point Loma will meet in the season opener. In 2025, the Aztecs took the match by a score of 6-1 over the Sea Lions.
The Aztecs also won their most recent matchup against UCLA, taking down the 30th-ranked Bruins in a 4-3 battle last season. Head coach Stella Sampras Webster returns six players from the 2025 roster, which went on a run to last year’s NCAA Super-Regional Round.
Following the opening weekend, the team will head to Athens, Ga. for ITA Kickoff Weekend, where they will first face Washington State on Jan. 24.
