SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State football team will play host to James Madison on Sept. 19, 2026 at Snapdragon Stadium, the two teams announced on Wednesday. The game against the Dukes is the final non-conference game for the Aztecs in 2026, their first year in the Pac-12 Conference.

SDSU and JMU combined for 21 victories in 2025. San Diego State was 9-4 overall and 6-2 in its final season of the Mountain West, while James Madison was 12-2 overall, culminating with a 51-34 loss to Oregon in the opening round of the College Football Playoff. The Dukes went 8-0 in the Sun Belt Conference and won the championship game over Troy, 31-14.

This will be the first meeting San Diego State and James Madison.

The Aztecs are set to kick off the 2026 campaign at Snapdragon Stadium on Sept. 5 against Portland State. SDSU then travels to UCLA on Sept. 12, hosts James Madison on Sept. 19 and finishes the non-conference portion of the campaign at Toledo on Sept. 26.

The Pac-12 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
