Aztec Recruit Logan Cary Named Gatorade Player of the Year in Colorado
SAN DIEGO – San Diego State volleyball recruit Logan Cary was named 2025-26 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Colorado on Friday, Jan. 9.
A senior at Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Cary garnered first-team all-state accolades after propelling her team to a third-place finish at the 2025 CHSAA Class 5A Championships in November.
In her final prep season, Cary compiled 468 assists and 289 kills in 101 sets across 28 matches to go with a team-high 49 service aces, splitting time as a setter and right-side hitter. She also flashed her versatility by contributing 245 digs and 64 blocks, according to MaxPreps, as the Jaguars finished with a 24-4 record.
In addition, Cary competed for Front Range Volleyball Club in Englewood, Colorado, helping her squad to a 13th-place finish in the 17s USA Division at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship in the summer of 2025.
Cary, who is listed as the No. 2 recruit for her high school graduating class in Colorado by PrepDig, was also selected to play in the Colorado Sports All-State Games later this year.
Not to be outdone, Cary has excelled in the classroom as well, maintaining a 4.12 grade point average thus far in high school.
San Diego State secured its second straight berth in the Mountain West Championship in 2025, highlighted by a first-round sweep of Wyoming.
According to its website, the Gatorade Player of the Year program annually honors one winner from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C., in 12 different sports, with 610 high school athletes celebrated each year. From the pool of state winners, one national winner is selected in each of the 12 sports. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts, including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the winners in each sport.
