Aztecs Host Pacific Sunday Afternoon

The San Diego State women’s basketball team is hosting Pacific Sunday at 1 p.m. for their final home non-conference game. It will broadcast locally on KUSI and simulcast on the Mountain West Network.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s basketball team is hosting Pacific Sunday at 1 p.m. for their final home non-conference game. It will broadcast locally on KUSI and simulcast on the Mountain West Network.

 

Aztec Tidbits

  • This is SDSU’s Filipino Heritage Game, and the first 500 fans will receive a Philippine inspired T-shirt.
  • The Aztecs split their two games at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. They beat Maryland Eastern Shore 58-45 and then lost to Penn State 83-67.
  • Nat Martinez scored a career-high 20 points against Penn State, her second time scoring 20+ against a Big Ten team (Wisconsin last year).
  • SDSU is turning the ball over just 12.6 times per game, the 24th fewest in the nation. Their 1.10 assist-to-turnover ratio is the second best in the Mountain West.
  • The Aztecs have made more three-pointers than their opponent in six of their seven games.
  • Eight different Aztecs have already scored in double-digits in a game, and three different players have scored 20 or more points.
  • SDSU was picked to finish second in the MW Preseason poll, their highest preseason selection since 2012-13.
  • Entering this year, SDSU had 70 wins over the past three seasons, tied for the most in a three-year span in SDSU history (1994-96).
  • This is the first time in program history that SDSU doesn’t return a single scholarship upperclassman (who played last year).
  • The Aztecs have seven newcomers this year, the most ever under head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson (13th season). They added five transfers with four of them coming from Mountain West schools.

Nat Martinez (Sophomore, Guard, San Leandro, Calif.)

  • Nat Martinez had a career-high 24 points vs. Penn State in the Bahamas. She was 7-for-15 from the field, 5-for-10 from three and 5-for-6 from the line. She also had a career-high two blocks and drew eight fouls.
  • She was named to the Mountain West All-Freshman Team a year ago.
  • She shot 41.9% from three last year, the fifth best in a single season in program history.
  • She was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week three times, tied with Naomi Panganiban for the school record.

 

Nala Williams (Senior, Guard, Long Beach, Calif.)

  • Nala Williams tied a career-high with eight assists against Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 22).
  • Against Cal State Bakersfield Nov. 15, she became the first Aztec in the Mountain West era (since 1999) to have at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and three three-pointers in a game.
  • In her career, she has 1,551 points, 534 rebounds, 366 assists and 316 steals in 99 games.
  • Her 314 career steals are tied for the fourth most in the nation across all divisions among active players.
  • She has scored in double-digits in 76 of her 99 career games and has scored 20 or more 30 times. Her career-high is 42.
  • Last year at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Nala Williams was named the DII National Player of the Year and the National Defensive Player of the Year.
  • She helped her school go 36-2 and make the national title game.
  • She had 152 steals last year (4.0/game), which was the most in the nation across all divisions. No one else had more than 140 steals and only three other players had 130 or more.
  • She shot a career-best 40% from three last year and made 76 three-pointers.

 

Naomi Panganiban (Sophomore, Guard, San Diego, Calif.)

  • Naomi Panganiban has just five turnovers in 183 minutes so far this season.
  • She has scored 10 or more points in a team-high five games.
  • Panganiban was named to the preseason All-Mountain West Team.
  • Last year, she was named to the Mountain West All-Freshman Team and to the Mountain West All-Tournament Team.
  • Her 10.3 points per game led all Mountain West true freshmen last season.
  • She averaged 12.3 points in the Mountain West Tournament and scored 17 points on 7-for-14 shooting in 46 minutes in the championship game.
  • She was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week three times, tied with Nat Martinez for the school record.
  • Playing for the Philippine National Team at the FIBA Asia Cup, she tied for the team lead in scoring (13.2 ppg) despite being the youngest on the team.
  • The Philippines clinched a spot in the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament for the first time ever.

 

Bailey Barnard (Sophomore, Forward, San Diego, Calif.)

  • Bailey Barnhard has led the Aztecs in rebounding in every game but one.
  • She scored a career-high 13 points and tied a career-high with eight rebounds vs. Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 22).

 

Kennedy Lee (RS Junior, Forward, Louisville, Ky.)

  • Kennedy Lee set career highs for points (24) and three-pointers (7) last vs. CSUN (11-13).
  • Her seven made 3-pointers tied for the 2nd most ever made by an Aztec.
  • She became the first Aztec to make seven threes in a game since Jan. 15, 2022 (Mallory Adams).
  • She became the fifth Aztec to make seven threes in a game under head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson.

 

Kaelyn Hamilton (Sophomore, Guard, McKinney, Texas)

 

Kendall Mosley (Freshman, Guard, Prosper, Texas)

  • Kendall Mosley was named the preseason MW Freshman of the Year.
  • She was the 2024-25 6A MVP in Texas.
  • She was named the District 5-6A Offensive MVP each of the last two years.

 

CJ Latta (Sophomore, Guard, Paul, Idaho)

  • CJ Latta made 26 starts as a freshman at Utah State last year.
  • Her 9.1 points per game were the third most in the Mountain West by a true freshman, trailing only current teammate Naomi Panganiban (10.3) and former USU teammate Taliyah Logwood (9.7).
  • She led the Aggies in three-pointers (56), assists (2.3), and assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.28).
  • She ranked third all-time at USU with six games of 15 points or more as a freshman.

 

Opponent Notebook (Pacific)

  • The Tigers are 4-4 on the year.
