Women’s Tennis Set for ITA Masters, SDSU Fall Classic

San Diego State women’s tennis is gearing up for the final weekend of its fall season, hosting the SDSU Fall Classic from Nov. 7-9, while two Aztecs will also look to qualify for the NCAA Championships at the ITA Conference Masters, beginning on Thursday.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is gearing up for the final weekend of its fall season, hosting the SDSU Fall Classic from Nov. 7-9, while two Aztecs will also look to qualify for the NCAA Championships at the ITA Conference Masters, beginning on Thursday.

After winning the doubles competition at the Mountain West Fall Qualifier a month ago, Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley will represent the conference at the opening day of the ITA Masters, hosted at the Barnes Tennis Center on Thursday. With the first, second and third place finishers earning a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championships, the Aztecs will be competing for a trip to Orlando, Fla. in late November.

Chan and Turley will face North Florida’s eighth-seeded Isabel Oliveira and Laurie Barendse at 4:30 p.m. PT in Thursday’s round of 32. The winner will advance to the round of 16, to be played at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

The rest of the Aztecs will spend the weekend on their home courts, where they will welcome players from Stanford, Missouri, Colorado State, and Saint Mary's as they host the annual SDSU Fall Classic, beginning on Friday. Doubles competition will get underway at 9 a.m., followed by doubles at 9:45 a.m.
