SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis took down Loyola Marymount to win the Jack Kramer Classic on Sunday, closing out a split weekend and wrapping up its fall schedule. After victories over UC Santa Barbara and UCLA on Friday and Saturday, the Aztecs were the last team standing in Rancho Palos Verdes.
The four competing Aztecs went undefeated in doubles, going 6-0 on the weekend. On Sunday, Aleksi Lofman and Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice battled to a 7-6 (7-2) win over LMU’s Cesar Cruz and Max Wuelfing while Denis Maijorov and William Kleege downed Emil Kindhult and Alex Padro Parra 6-4.
The Scarlet and Black finished the tournament with a 6-6 singles record, winning one on Sunday. Lofman took his matchup against LMU’s Wuelfing in straight sets, defeating the Lion 6-4, 6-2 to clinch a tournament victory.
Gonzalez Fitzmaurice was tripped up 7-5, 3-6, [11-13] by Cruz and Maijorov came up short 5-7, 6-1, [7-10] against Kindhult. Kleege did not play his match, giving a walkover to Parra.
The Aztecs wrap up their fall slate and look ahead to the spring season, which gets underway in January. Schedule to be announced.
